Last Friday Sleepy Hollow was on TV. My sister and I wanted to watch it, even though it started quite late, and our father joined in. At half past twelve when it was finished I thought that the movie I just had seen wasn't horror as was mentioned in the listing magazine on the table. In fact, it had more funny moments than I was scared by it. The few chopped heads were not really gory and I wasn't even frightened by the Headless Horseman. The story seemed more like a fairy tale to me: New York agent gets send out to village were headless horseman murders people, agent starts investigation, meets young nice lady, finds evil witch/stepmother who's behind the murders and at the end the agent and lady go back to New York.

In about two weeks, the 20th of October, the new, next Kaiser Chief album "Off with their heads" will hit stores. I really would like to know what they have been up to, the first single, Never Miss a Beat is very promising, so I hope the rest is good as well. I didn't really like Yours Truly, Angry Mob, it wasn't half as much fun as Employment. It had good songs though, but in my opinion, the good song only took a quarter of the total length. Hopefully the next full-length is as catchy as Employment, and as good-selling as Yours Truly. Never miss a beat: BTW, the video reminds me of Jeremy Fraser, by Franz Ferdinand. It's the kids with the masks that do it.

Yep, another edition of Lowlands. We went with the same people, a different tent, to the same camping. The program wasn't as over-scheduled like last year, we had plenty of "free time". So day one, we saw the Pigeon Detectives in the morning, followed by the Wombats three hours later. We danced on Hot Chip, got overloaded and returned to the Alpha tent to enjoy The Kooks. It was then when we lost each other, but we got back together skipping to Late of the Pier. After that our musical day was done, we went back to the tent for our coats, it got cold. We saw Hit me TV on our way back and they told us they were going to do a gig in the Magneetbar. So we went to that place, were surprised by a secret gig of The Kooks and enjoyed Hit me TV as well. Next day was started in Echo 2 with a classical music show with Christiaan Kuyvenhoven, a pianist. We were bored between that and the Opposites, who weren't really great. We left to watch Blood Red Shoes and after that we started waiting for Franz Ferdinand, meanwhile we were listening to Nightwish, but not because we wanted to. Franz was great and we were quite tired so a bit Magneetbar with Claw Boys Claw, funny and the end of our second day. Otto's (Lucky fonz iii) morning show was our breakfast at twelve o'clock, he did a great show for only half an hour, but he gave us some cookies during the soundcheck. We hopped over to We Are Scientist, but they weren't as good as in the Melkweg. We had some tea and went to Gogol Bordello, which we enjoyed sitting on the grass. We left halfway for MGMT. They were good, but not great, hardly no interaction with the crowd and playing exactly their album, no surprises or shuffle or anything. We wanted to see Editors as well, but our tent couldn't stand the one big shower that day, so we had to go home, got picked up by our parents and drove home with the radio on.

We are scientists turned out to be dog freaks. Their third video impatience of the latest album has proven it. It contained a werewolf. The other two had just normal dogs. Watch impatience: |

When I came home today, depressed of all the homework to be done, an envelope lay on the table. That's not that unusual, but it's shape (it had to contain a package) and addressee (me) were. So I, curious as a kitten, opened it. And it contained... Konk!? Apparently I had won the cd of the Kooks at the CJP site. Me happy :). And some entertainment for during my homework. Another good thing is that 1) we are going to Lowlands this year as well and 2) Franz Ferdinand, The Kooks, The Wombats and lots of other bands are coming as well. But till then it's hard work to complete every assignment.

So this is my interpretation of Jacob's Ladder. It's a bit rough, as I wanted it to be. And the person of the magazine cut is someone of Friendly Fires, I just picked him because he was looking upwards,

The video for Late of the Pier's Bears are coming is quite odd. Especially the ending. A bit like Lord of the Rings meets nowadays youth.

For the people that don't know what WAS is, it's the band We Are Scientists. I saw them yesterday at the Melkweg in Amsterdam. I was not really content with some parts of the audience. In my opinion it's not very smart or cool or usual to bring your handbag with you, when you can expect that some hyperactive young fellows to jump and push everyone aside. But this is of no matter when we are talking about WAS itself. It was the first time I saw them, and I must say, they really got me. They had fun, real fun and it was visible. They played very enthusiastically and Keith had crowd surfed a bit. He even pushed their fourth man into the audience. Their songs sounded great live and the show was of a good length, maybe a bit long, because we missed the last train (but it was not WAS' fault). But still, the audience sucked, some girl at the front rows pushed me away in a very bitchy way and somehow I got chewing gun on my shoe. It took me an hour to pick it of. The 925's were not really bad, but not very interesting either. They had a sexy bass player though.

I just made a "movie" about my desk. It's very short, for it's mostly an experiment. Stop motion and ukulele sounds!

So, last Saturday was my first concert where people had to sit down. It was quite a surprise, but I enjoyed it anyway. Lucky Fonz III was playing at Patronaat in Haarlem. It was a small gig, but very comfortable and great as well. We were sitting at the first row and got sore necks. It was really amazing how silent the audience was, especially when you imagine I'm used to sing/shout/scream-along concerts. We had time to whistle though. But my sister didn't believe it was the audience that whistled, she thought it was some track or whatever. I could have got my copy signed, but I didn't dare to ask him.
